The Kilbride site is part of Kilbride village, located close to Dublin Airport. In response to the need for stronger built form in the village and in order to establish an image, a generous crescent was created at the entrance to the residential development. A spine road extends westwards through this crescent, from which various house units are accessed.
The design in terms of morphological footprint, landscaping and house type aims to establish a hierarchy and articulation of parts. The combination of the contemporary and traditional is repeated throughout the development as a distinguishing motif. Further distinction is achieved by the brick used for house fronts and sides, this material having been specially sought and imported from Belgium. The house type elevations were carefully considered in respect of proportions of window / door sizes and positions.
