A narrow site positioned above a small town on the east coast of Ireland generated a long plan with a grand glazed opening facing on to sea. Accordingly, living spaces were located on the top floor, availing of excellent lighting and a spectacular vista. Vertical circulation in the form of the main stairs is a strong feature, hugging the north side and being expressed externally by a stairway that projects to greet the visitor. There is accommodation for cars on the ground level. The house was designed in accordance with Passive House principles and was pre-fabricated in Germany, then transported in containers to Ireland.
